Death of poor street vendor in Anantnag due to ‘over dose injection’: Police arrests accused shopkeeper

The Jammu Kashmir Police on Tuesday said it arrested the medical shopkeeper accused of giving an overdosed injection to a poor street vendor in Anantnag town.

Police in a press release said, Police Post Janglat Mandi Anantnag had received an application on 27th Jan, from Aadil Ahmad Bhat Son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, a resident of Deva Colony Anantnag, stated there in, that his brother namely Irfan Ahmad Bhat Son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, resident of Deva colony Anantnag was feeling throat irritation.

Accordingly, he approached a medical shop at janglat mandi i.e., Rehmani Medical chamber, who had injected him injections without test dose.

He (Irfan) developed some complications and was brought to GMC Ananthnag where doctors declared him brought dead and the death was caused by the negligence of medical shopkeeper namely Ubaid Ulla Rehmani S/O Ab Aziz Rehmani R/O Green Colony Janglatmandi Anantnag, police said in its press release.

On recieving this application, case FIR No. 44/2023 Under Relevant sections stands registered at P/S Anantnag and investigation was initiated.l

Police said that a team of police visited the scene of crime, seized the used injections for forensic analysis and also got the Medico-Legal formalities completed.  “We have also collected the further evidence in this case,” police said.

The accused person was arrested and is on Police Remand and further investigation is going on, read the Police press release.
