Dilapidated Condition of Road; Sumo Drivers Stop Services on Hyderbeigh-Chanderseera Road

Drivers on Monday started a 3-day strike and have stopped sumo service on Hyderbeigh-Chanderseera route due to the bad condition of said road.

Reportedly, the road starting from Hyderbeigh, passing through Wanigam to Tilgam and Chanderseera is in its worst condition since years due to which the drivers have to face damage on their vehicles.

As per reports, the matter of said road was highlighted by the general public of the area as well as drivers several times but unfortunately, no concrete step was taken by the administration.

Locals have alleged that the widening of road was started in the year of 2018 but due to the administrative failure, it wasn’t completed yet.

Local residents of the area speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the road was in such a condition that even a pedestrian cannot walk on it. “The massive potholes like canals on rainy days show the real condition of road,” they said.

“Now the drivers have stopped service on road too, here also, it is the general public that suffers,” the locals said.

Executive Engineer R&B Baramulla told The Kashmiriyat that due to the problem of funds, the work of road was heavily affected. “We have sorted it out. Hopefully, the work will start in this week,” he said.

He said that the work on the road had to begin yet, let alone the completion of the road. He also added that only after the funds are released, the contractor would work on fast track basis.

General Public and Driver’s appealed to the Lt Governor J&K Manoj Sinha, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla for the redressal of their grievance as soon as possible.
