Display child helpline number 1098 everywhere: CWC to educational institutions in Srinagar

The Child Welfare Committee, Srinagar with its mandate under the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Rules made thereunder for upholding the safety and protection of children, urge all the Educational Institutions (Government as well as Private), Coaching Centres and Crèches in District Srinagar to display the Child Helpline Number 1098 in bold letters on some conspicuous place within/outside the premises of the institutions which includes but is not limited to, Notice Boards, Entrance Gates, Corridors and School Buses.

The Educational Institution, by exhibiting the helpline number 1098 prominently, will contribute significantly in creating a safer environment for children and demonstrate their commitment to well-being of children as it will ensure immediate access and assistance to children in need of care and protection.

The safety and well-being of children is of paramount importance for all of us as stake- holders in the Child Protection System and it is imperative that we all take necessary steps to ensure the safety of our children including students. The cooperation and compliance from the Educational Institutions including Coaching Centres, Preparatory Schools and Crèches shall be highly appreciated as it is crucial in fulfilling our collective responsibility towards child protection.

Further, we urge management of such Institutions, teachers and other staff members to acquaint themselves with the child rights guaranteed under the Juvenile justice care.(KNT)
