
At least thirty five (35) persons died and others were injured in a road accident at Assar area of Doda district in Chenab valley.
Locals told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday a bus registered under the number JK02 CN 6555 met an accident near Trungal Assar in Doda when it was on the way from Kishtwar to Jammu.
They said that a total of 55 persons onboard were wounded during the road accident who were rushed to the hospital. “Thirty five people have succumbed to their injuries,” an official said.
As soon as the news of the accident spread, local residents and volunteers of relief organisation Ababil reached the spot to rescue the injured.
“We do not know the exact number of casualities, but we are trying to rescue the dead many bodies are lying scattered on the road near the passenger vehicle,” a volunteer of Ababil told The Kashmiriyat.
As per official records، around 648 road accidents and 93 deaths were reported on Jammu-Srinagar highway last year.
