Residents of Watrina area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district have been facing water shortage for at least a month, causing inconvenience to inhabitants.
Locals while talking to news agency Kashmir Dot Com said that they have been afflicted with numerous problems due to the acute shortage of drinking water.
“Shortage of tap water has left us deeply disappointed. Women of the area have to fetch water from very far away from here and the condition is such worse that we are here hankering for taking a bath as pipelines have dried up,” said a local, Ghulam Mohammad.
“Our life without water has become a hell. No one is paying heed to our demands and now we are forced to hit the roads. How can we survive without drinking water? We are unable to get water for drinking, let alone for doing other house chores,” said another local.
They also alleged that some officials and politicians have also visited the area but they went back on their promises as not an iota of help was received to alleviate the issue.
Meanwhile, locals appealed to the Lieutenant Governor Administration and the concerned officials of the PHE to look into the matter. (KDC)
