Jammu Kashmir Police arrested one more drug peddler in Bijbehara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement, Police said, Police party from Police Station Bijbehara laid down a naka near Uranhall fruit Mandi, while performing Naka duty one suspected person was coming from the side of fruit Mandi towards Uranhall, on seeing the Naka party he tried to flee away from the spot.
However, the suspected person was tactfully arrested by Naka party. During his search police party recovered about 05 Kgs of charas powder from his possession.
He disclosed his idenitity as Mohd Shafi Wani, R/O Batangoo Anantnag. Accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he will remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation set into motion.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood.
“Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” Police said.
