Dupatta becomes weapon in family feud: Baramulla police solve gruesome murder

The Baramulla Police have successfully cracked a blind murder case in the Pattan area, leading to the arrest of four individuals involved in the gruesome crime.

The incident, which occurred on August 1, 2024, shocked the local community.

According to the police, on August 2, 2024, an unknown dead body was discovered under the Khambiyar-Andergam bridge.

The deceased was later identified as Nasir Ahmad Ganaie, a resident of Pousnag Kreeri, Police said.

A police team, led by SDPO Pattan, DSP Shahjahan, and assisted by SHO Pattan, Inspector Mohd Shafi, along with DO Palhallan, SI Raees, swiftly launched an investigation.

“Through sustained interrogation, examination of evidence, and analysis of technical data, we succeeded in identifying four accused,” stated the police in their release.

The accused were identified as Gh Mohiuddin Ganie, his wife Fatima Begum, their daughter Rubeena Bano, and their son Aadil Ahmad Ganie—all residents of Gundbal Pattan, District Baramulla. The investigation revealed that the accused had “hatched a conspiracy to kill the deceased on August 1, 2024.”

The police added that “they strangulated him to death using a dupatta and later disposed of the body under the bridge.”

The accused have been arrested and are currently in police custody. The police team also recovered the weapon of offense, a dupatta, along with other vital evidence. “Further investigation is under process in the instant case,” the police concluded.
