Election preparations underway in Shopian: Observer holds key meeting

Jeevan Babu K, General Observer for the Zainapora Assembly Constituency (AC), held a comprehensive meeting with Returning Officers (RO) and Nodal Officers at the Mini Secretariat today to review preparations for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

According to an official press release issued by The Kashmiriyat, the meeting, attended by various constituency and district nodal officers, focused on key election-related activities. Officials briefed the Observer on preparations for home voting, postal ballots for essential services, material management, SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation), webcasting, training, and the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Other discussions included campaign permissions, voter guide distribution, polling station facilities, and welfare measures for polling staff.

Jeevan Babu emphasized the importance of social media in promoting SVEEP activities, urging officials to involve influencers, students, and local icons.

He also directed officers to finalize a detailed plan for home voting, while stressing the need for daily reports on activities of Flying Squad Teams (FST) and Static Surveillance Teams (SST).

He further instructed officers to ensure proper sanitation, lighting, and facilities for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) at polling stations. Polling staff were to be provided with refreshments, and special care was emphasized for vulnerable voters.

 

The meeting concluded with a directive to all officers to ensure meticulous planning for the smooth conduct of the elections.
