The residents of the Batpora area in Srinagar face immense risk as an electric pole has been installed in the middle of the road.
In spite of having abundant space for positioning the poles, The Power Development Department has erected the pole exactly in the middle of the road posing danger to the commuters.
According to the residents who spoke to The Kashmiriyat, “It has turned into a blockade for movement of vehicles. Commuters could be electrocuted if heavy vehicles hit the post accidentally.

According to them, hundreds of school children pass through the road daily as the road connects several areas with Hazratbal and downtown Srinagar.
They said that despite complaints, the pole continues to stand tall in the middle of the road. “We approached the concerned authorities several times, but no action has been taken so far.”
“It’s high time the authorities should take some steps to shift the poles to the roadside,” said a
local resident.
