An encounter has started between militants and Government forces in the Hangalgund area of Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Thursday noon a joint group of 19 RR, 164 BN of CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about militant presence in the Hangalgund area of Anantnag, launched a cordon and search operation.
The hiding militants opened fire on the troopers during the cordon, triggering an encounter. 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
As per locals, intermittent exchange of gunfire is going on at the site of the encounter.
