An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in the Tangpawa area Kokernag in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday late evening noon 19 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint launched a cordon and search operation in the Tangpawa area of Kokernag
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that a massive exchange of gunfire is on in the area.
Pertinently Tangpawa is the native of the slain Hizb commander Mohammed Ashraf Khan alias Ash Molvi who was killed during an encounter with Government forces earlier this year.
