An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that on Saturday, 19 RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint launched cordon and search operation in the Sehlan area of Anantnag’s Kokernag.
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Locals speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that a massive exchange of gunfire is on in the area.
