An encounter started between Government forces and militants at Cheki Dudoo area of Bijbehera in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official confirming the exchange of gunfire to The Kashmiriyat said that the forces including Jammu Kashmir Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation at Cheki Dudoo area of Anantnag on Sunday morning.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the forces, who retaliated.
The exchange of fire was going on when this report was filed.
