
An encounter has broken out between militants and government forces in Poonch district of Jammu Kashmir.
According to a senior police official, on Sunday morning, security forces launched the operation after receiving specific intelligence about the presence of militants in the forested area of Pathanateer, Gursi Top in Poonch.
“As the forces advanced towards the suspected location, they came under heavy fire from the militanta, which was met with a strong retaliation,” the officer stated.
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
This encounter follows the encounter in Kishtwar, where two soldiers lost their lives and two others were injured.
