An encounter broke out between militants and government forces in the Dassal forest area of Rajouri district.
Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that on Friday morning a joint team of Government forces including the Indian Army, and Jammu Kashmir Police following an input about militant movement laid a cordon and search operation in Rajouri forest area.
During the cordon and search operation, he said, the forces came under heavy fire from militants, to which the forces responded.
The entry and exit points of the encounter site have been sealed and an intermittent exchange of gunfire has begun.
