An encounter has started between militants and Government forces at Sirigufwara in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District.
A Police official told The Kashmiriyat that on Monday morning 3 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the area.
The cordon continued for hours together, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter.
All the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed by the Forces.
As per initial reports available to The Kashmiriyat two to three militants were trapped in the area.
Sources said that a massive exchange of fire is being heard at the site of the encounter.
A lady named Arifa daughter of Ghulam Mohammad, has been injured during the exchange of fire.
Arifa has received bullet injury in her back, Hospital officials told The Kashmiriyat, adding that, her condition is stable.
Mobile internet services have been barred in this South Kashmir District.
