
A Gunfight has raged between militants and government forces in Ganipora area of Kralgund in Handwara of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday night.
Sources said a joint team of Army’s RR, Police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Ganipora area of Handwara on Wednesday late evening.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
A senior police officer upon being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that the exchange of fire between the joint team and the militants.
As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
