An Encounter broke out between government forces and militants at Bandpawa area in Imam Sahib area of Shopian district on Thursday afternoon.
A Security official told The Kashmiriyat that a cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched in the area by joint team of forces including 44 RR, CRPF and Shopian Police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
An official said that, after trapping the militants, they were asked to surrender, however, opened fire, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
Sources said that two militants are believed to be trapped.
An encounter is also going on in the Pulwama district where cellular networks have been snapped.
