Following his appearance in Baramulla, Member of Parliament for Baramulla, Engineer Rashid, is set to address a public rally in Anantnag on Friday.

A party member informed The Kashmiriyat that Engineer Rashid, who was released on bail on Wednesday, will also be campaigning for the party candidate in the Anantnag assembly segment on Friday morning.

“He will address a rally at the Sports Stadium in Anantnag town, and local leaders from Engineer Rashid’s party will also take part in the event,” the party representative said, adding that preparations have been made for the rally.

He said that Engineer Rashid will campaign non-stop for the elections, the first phase of which is scheduled on September 18. “He will address a press conference at Srinagar at 3:30 P.M. today,” he said.

In the lead-up to the event, announcement vehicles have been deployed across the district to publicize the rally.

After arriving in Srinagar from Delhi on Thursday morning, Engineer Rashid condemned local political parties, accusing them of a “sell-out.”

His release, just before the elections, and his active campaigning—which has garnered significant attention on social media—are seen by some as a potential factor in fragmenting the electoral mandate in Kashmir, according to local political analysts.

Meanwhile, both the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and the People’s Democratic Party have welcomed Engineer Rashid’s release, expressing hope that other Kashmiris imprisoned outside the region will also be freed soon.
