Erdogan calls for fair, permanent peace in Kashmir at UNGA; ‘Unwarranted’ comment, reacts India

On Tuesday, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session called for establishing fair and permanent peace and prosperity in Kashmir.

“India and Pakistan, after having established their sovereignty and independence 75 years ago, they still haven’t established peace and solidarity between one another. This is much unfortunate. We hope and pray that a fair and permanent peace and prosperity will be established in Kashmir,” Erdogan said.

Pertinently, this is not the first time the Turkish President has referred to the Kashmir issue at the UN sessions.

Meanwhile, the comment didn’t sit well with India. As per news reports, top government sources referred to Erdogan’s comments on he Kashmir issue as “unwarranted” and “out of context.”
