A family from Hanjiwera Bala Pattan, yesterday alleged that their 2-month-old baby died the next day after he was immunized at Trauma Hospital Pattan, on 04 August.

Mohd Iqbal Mir, the father of the deceased, said, “On Wednesday when I came back home from work, my family members told me that they will take the baby boy for immunisation to Pattan Hospital. He (deceased boy) was fine at home but after immunisation, we noticed that the baby had caught a high fever and his body turned blue.”

“Next day (Thursday), when his condition got serious, we shifted him to Pattan Hospital during night hours where the doctors referred him to Srinagar hospital,” said the father.

He also added that “While on the way to Srinagar, unfortunately, the baby succumbed before reaching the hospital.”

Iqbal Mir alleged that the Pattan Hospital authorities wasted their time by not providing the Ambulance on time.

Aneesa Bano, the paternal aunt of the deceased baby alleged that on Tuesday, i.e., August 10, they approached BMO Pattan for registering a complaint. But the BMO allegedly threatened them that she will call the police.

The family members alleged that the hospital authorities were hiding the Nurse who had immunized the baby boy.

Family members, while appealing to the Lt. Governor for justice have demanded the suspension of BMO Pattan.

When The Kashmiriyat contacted the BMO Pattan, she responded by saying that the enquiry committee had been framed to see this matter.

“I have also brought up this matter into consideration of higher-ups, we will see what is the reason,” BMO added

She, further, said that after immunisation on August 04, the baby was brought to the hospital with complaints of Vomiting and lethargy on August 05. The baby was referred to JVC, but unfortunately, before reaching the hospital, he succumbed on the way.
