One Militant has been killed in the encounter in the Ashmuji area of Kulgam district in South Kashmir.
Earlier an official said that RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF launched a joint operation in the area following inputs about Militant movement in the area.
During the searches, the Militants opened fire upon the forces, triggering an encounter.
Officials said that the family of one Active Militant from the Malwan area of Kulgam was rushed to the spot of the encounter to persuade their son to surrender, however, he refused.
They said that Mudasir Ahmad Wagay was killed during the encounter. Mudasir, a resident of Malwan Kulgam was active since 17 Aug 2018 has been brought to the spot to appeal Mudasir to surrender.
Clashes had also erupted in the area during the encounter when several youth hurled stones on Government Forces, who used tear smoke shells to disrupt them
