On Thursday, Umar Khalid, a young student leader arrested under multiple charges turned 35 inside Tihar jail in Delhi.
Khalid’s father who is the founder of Welfare Party of India national president Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas wished his son on his birthday. “UmarKhalid spends another birthday in jail. We are proud of you Umar. More Power to you Umar. Your courage & determination will always guide the young Indians,” his father wrote to Twitter.

On the occassion of his 35th birthday, several social media users have taken to twitter and demanded his release. Pertinently Umar spent his 34th birthday in Jail too.

“JNU student activist Umar Khalid has been in jail since 13 September 2020 for allegedly being one of the conspirators of the February 2020 anti-Muslim riots in Delhi. No evidence but no bail. Today is his birthday,” wrote Ashok Swain.
