A fire incident in the Laktipora area of Arwani at Anantnag’s Bijbehara division caused damage to three residential houses, locals said.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, locals said that on Thursday morning, a massive fire that erupted from one residential house caused damage to three houses in the south Kashmir locality.

“Family members of Rayees Ahmed Wani, a resident rushed out of their houses raising alarm in the entire locality that flames had erupted from their houses. The locals called the fire tenders who rushed to the spot to douse off the flames,” a local said.

He said that before the fire could be brought under control, three residential houses including that of Rayees Ahmed Wani, Mohammed Amin Malik, and Nisar Ahmed Wani were damaged.

Locals appealed to the district administration to help the families who are now living under open skies.

They said that loss suffered during such fire incidents could be minimized if a fire station is established in the nearby Arwani which is the center for dozens of villages. “The nearest fire station is in Bijbehara which is around 13 kilometers away from our village. We appeal to the DC Anantnag to establish a fire service station at Arwani,” he said.
