Amid multi-tier security cover, first batch of Amarnath yatris reached Qazigund where they were welcomed by civil and police officials.
Officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that first batch of 3488 pilgrims were welcomed by Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Deputy Inspector General of Police south Kashmir Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Superintendent of Police Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal and PRI’s near Nayvuga tunnel Qazigund.
They said for the purpose of providing stay and food items to the pilgrims lodgement capacity of 5,000 has been set up at transit camp at Walnut factory Qazigund and FCI Mirbazar.
“2400 bedded Yatri Niwas at Walnut factory Qazigund and 2600 in FCI Mirbazar will give a major boost to the lodgement capacity for pilgrims along the Yatra route”, they said.
The 62-day Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to start from July 1 and continue till August 31—(KNO)
