The first-ever retreat ceremony at the Octroi Post was held on the International Border (IB) in Suchetgarh, Jammu.
While inaugurating the ceremony on Saturday, Jammu Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha remarked, “Our security forces are vigilantly defending the nation’s territorial integrity and efficiently combating the malicious schemes of the neighbouring countries.”
Hundreds of visitors and residents turned out for the event. “The ceremony on the Wagah Border in Amritsar honours the Border Security Force, India’s first line of defence,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
He stated that the long-awaited wish of the people of Suchetgarh has been met with the start of the retreat ceremony. “Now that the tourism potential of Suchetgarh has been fully realised, the area’s economic development will be boosted,” remarked the Lt. Governor.
He stated that Jammu Kashmir is working tirelessly to promote inclusive growth and development in the Union Territory, as well as to alter people’s lives.
Meanwhile, the former chief Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti praised the decision to begin the retreat ceremony in Suchetgarh.
“Will certainly give a fillip to tourism and hope it’s taken further by using it as a trade and travel route between Suchetgarh and Sialkot. Such CBMs improve cross- border ties and benefit both sides economically too,” she said.
