August 02

With the installation of special equipment for night hour aviation operations, the night landing will start at the Srinagar “International” Airport from August 10.

As per reports, proposals were sent to all seven airline operating in the region but for now, just two will begin the process, but Initially GoAir and IndiGo have received the permissions to operate in evening hours.

On an average, twenty seven flights land at the airport daily but these numbers are likely to go up after night operations begin.

Srinagar Airport is a table-top airport surrounded by dozens of villages and orchards and situated at a distance of 12 kms from Srinagar.

It is under direct operational control of the IAF which controls its air traffic and landing strip and also the facilities of fire-fighting and crash activities, apart from the airspace. Thus, the security has been enhanced for night operations.

The present set flight landing timings for Srinagar Airport are 5:30 PM during winters and 7:30 PM in summers.
