Five More Police ‘Units’ to Come up in South Kashmir

The Jammu Kashmir administration has ordered setting up of seven new police units and deployment of more than 271 additional police personnel to strengthen security in South Kashmir.

In the last few years, South Kashmir military establishments have come up in a large scale as South is considered to be hot-bed of Militant activities.

An order issued by the Home Department on Thursday said, “Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Approval is granted for the establishment of a highway office. Its headquarters will be at Qazigund in Kulgam district. ”

The order also approved the establishment of the Sub Divisional Police Officer office at Pampore.

The department approved to improve the police post at Behibagh in Kulgam district and regularize police posts at DK Pora and Sangam.

According to the order, five new police posts have been approved, including Hillar and Daksum in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district, Hatipora and Nilo in Kulgam district and Chursoo in Awantipora.

To strengthen the security cordon, the government has ordered to deploy 272 additional police personnel in these security units, which include one ASP, one DySP, one inspector, 19 sub-inspectors and nine assistant sub-inspectors.
