Israel is reeling after a night of heavy missile attacks from Iran, which were launched in response to Israeli airstrikes on Iran on Thursday, Jerusalem Post reported.
At least four people have been reported dead and over 70 injured across central Israel, as per the report.
Sirens rang out nationwide on Friday night and into Saturday as more than 150 missiles fired from Iran hit Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and other areas, causing widespread fires, damage to homes, and civilian injuries. Emergency services rushed to rescue those trapped under rubble, including a two-month-old baby.
Two women succumbed to their injuries in hospital, and dozens more remain hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries. Firefighters and medics responded to calls throughout the night, especially in the Gush Dan region.
The attacks came after Israel launched a massive aerial assault on Thursday targeting Iranian nuclear and military infrastructure — including the Tabriz and Hamadan air bases — reportedly killing several senior Iranian commanders and scientists.
In response to Iran’s missile launches, Israeli authorities warned civilians to remain close to shelters. Flights were suspended, parties were canceled, and daily life ground to a halt across much of the country.
Tehran also came under fresh bombardment early Saturday, with Iranian media confirming explosions at Mehrabad Airport and in northern Tehran’s Aghdasieh neighborhood.
As fears grow of an extended regional war, experts warn the fallout from Israel’s provocative strikes and Iran’s forceful retaliation could lead to a prolonged conflict with far-reaching consequences.
