Waqf board chairperson and BJP leader, Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, has issued an order to prohibit the entry of footwear into praying areas of Waqf Controlled Mosques & Khanqahs.
The decision was made due to concerns regarding unhygienic conditions and the violation of religious sanctity when devotees pray near their footwear. The Engineering Wing and other staff members have been instructed to establish appropriate arrangements for the safe storage of footwear outside the praying areas.
This will involve the installation of shoe racks under CCTV surveillance. Upon the completion of these arrangements, administrators of shrines and mosques will be required to enforce the ban on footwear entry into the praying areas.
It is important to note that the ban will be implemented immediately in locations where sufficient shoe racks under CCTV surveillance are already in place.
