Four Militants Killed in Shopian Encounter- Operation on, Says Army

Four Militants have been killed in an encounter that started between militants and Government forces at Reban area of Zainapora in Kashmir’s Shopian District.

An Army official told The Kashmiriyat that on Sunday morning 44 RR of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu Kashmir Police after receiving inputs about Militant presence in the area laid a cordon and search operation in the Reban area.

The cordon continued for nearly two to three hours, during which the hiding Militants opened fire on the troopers triggering an encounter, All the entry and exit points of the area have been sealed by the Forces.

During the exchange of gunfire four Militants have been killed as of now, the Army official said, adding, “One More Militant is believed to be hiding at the spot of the encounter.”

Sources meanwhile told The Kashmiriyat that intermittent exchange of gunfire is being heard at the site of the encounter. Mobile internet services have been suspended in this South Kashmir District.

Meanwhile, Massive clashes have started at the site of the encounter in Reban as people in large crowds are trying to march towards the site of the encounter in this Shopian area.

The Forces fired tear smoke shells and pellets to disperse the protesting women and men, however the clashes were going on when this report was filed.
