Four militants, one army man killed in ongoing Kulgam encounter: Officials

One army man and four militants have been killed during the ongoing encounter in the Kulgam district of south Kashmir.

Official sources told The Kashmiriyat that four unidentified militants have been killed during the encounter in the Chingam area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir.

The encounter began when a group of militants fired upon forces, who had launched a cordon and search operation in the area following an input about militant movement in the area on Saturday afternoon.

In the following exchange of gunfire, they said, four militants have been killed, who are yet to be identified.

During the exchange of gunfire, one army man was also killed.

However, sources informed The Kashmiriyat that one of the longest surviving militant commanders from the Kulgam district has been killed during the encounter, while one militant is believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter.

Another encounter that raged earlier in the Modergam area of the south Kashmir district is still going on.
