Four Ulema associated with a New Delhi-based Islamic organization were released from Dharamnagar jail in Tripura after 20 days. The four had been arrested on 5 November during their visit to violence-affected areas.
The four Ulema had been booked under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Identified as Qamar Ghani Usmani, Ehsanul Haque Razvi, Qari Aasif, and Mudasir, the clerics were about to land at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi at 8:10 PM on Wednesday, according to a Facebook post shared by the Tahreek Farogh e Islam organization.
Renowned Lawyer Mahmood Pracha appeared for the accused in court.
Various incidents of violence against Muslims were reported from Tripura. Several visuals have emerged on social media that confirm allegations of anti-Muslim violence in the state.
Locals Muslims have also alleged the same, however, the state police have denied such reports and have taken no action against the culprits.
