Free Tuition Classes Conducted by Uplona Rashtriya Rifles at Sopore

With an aim of providing equal education opportunities to the underprivileged students of the valley, Uplona Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Haiderbeg Army Camp conducted free tuition classes for the meritorious students from the adjoining villages of Tarzoo, Sopore.

The two months long tuition classes were conducted at Government Middle School, Tarzoo, Sopore from 21st December of 2020 to 20th February of 2021.

The classes were conducted for the students of IX standard class so as to bridge the capability gap in the academic learning due to the post COVID-19 lockdown period and prepare them for the future board exams. A total of 50 students (30 girls and 20 boys) from nearby villages of Sopore town attended the coaching classes.

Five local teachers having vast experience were selected to teach all mandatory subjects to include English, Social Science, Mathematics, Science and Urdu.

The two months long coaching classes were scientifically structured in order to maximize the learning value. The students were initially divided into three batches based on their take off level after an initial screening test. Fortnightly tests were conducted to gauge the performance and make any alteration to the course curriculum.

A final assimilation test was conducted on conclusion of the course, which witnessed a vast improvement in the knowledge and performance of the students.

Various co-curricular activities were also conducted to give a platform to students facilitating overall personality development. A motivational tour to Kaman Post, Uri was also organized towards the end of the course which was highly appreciated by the students.

During the conduct of classes all necessary COVID-19 precautions were followed, including daily temperature screening, provision of face masks, hand sanitizers and regular fumigation of the class rooms. Adequate heating arrangements were also made during the winter months for smooth conduct of the classes. Free stationery items were also provided to the students during the course.

The closing ceremony was attended by the students, their parents/guardians and other village dignitaries. Brig N K Mishra, Commander, Haiderbeig Sector Headquarters felicitated the meritorious students and appreciated the dedication and hard work put in by everyone for enhancing there knowledge.

Locals appreciated the efforts of Indian Army as the noble initiative will go a long way in bridging the learning gap among the students having a weak financial background and propel them towards a brighter future.
