Full dress Rehearsals for Aug 15 Held in Kashmir

Full dress rehearsals for the 75th Independence Day were held in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir Valley on Friday.

Unprecedented security arrangements were made and all roads leading to the venues of rehearsals were closed for any civilian movement.

The main full dress rehearsal was held in Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium at high-security zone Sonawar where Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, P K Pole unfurled the national flag and took a salute at the march past.

Central Paramilitary Forces, Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, J&K Police, Fire and Emergency and others participated in the march past. Cultural programme was also presented by different groups, including CRPF personnel.
However, school students were missing due to COVID-19.

Mr Pole said all arrangements have been made for the I-Day celebrations across the Kashmir valley. The national flag will be unfurled at all places besides at district and tehsil headquarters.

Meanwhile, all roads leading to S K Stadium have been closed for any traffic movement at Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) crossing, Sonawar and other sides.

Traffic from south Kashmir was diverted through the Dalgate route.

Security forces were seen keeping a close vigil with the help of drones and other sophisticated gadgets.

A large number of security forces have been deployed in and outside the stadium, where Lt Governor Manoj Sinha will unfurl the national flag and took a salute at the march paste on August 15.

Full dress rehearsals were also held in other parts of the Kashmir valley. UNI
