G. A Reshi Mulgami – Vice President of a party in association with Rahul Gandhi in Jammu Kashmir spoke to The Kashmiriyat about Kashmiris detained in states all over India.
G. A Reshi spoke to The Kashmiriyat and said, “The government has arrested and detained numbers of Kashmiris in different jails all over India. For better livelihood, education, employment and providing for families, Kashmiris travel to other states away from conflict. If the government supports educational rights for everyone, then why not Kashmiris ?”
“If Kashmiris travel to other states in India for labor, employment opportunities and educational means, why are they un-welcomed by the people ? Even the Police from Gujrat, Maharashtra and Delhi harasses the young boys and call them ‘stone – pelters’ and ‘militants’.”
He further said, “Kashmiris are pacifists and peace – mongers, the world must learn from humanity and qualities of empathy, compassion and peace from Kashmiris.”
He then added to his plea and said, “The government must release all political prisoners from Kashmir. Even the leaders from seperatist groups like Hurriyat must be released. The government also ordered for the detention of Mehbooba Mufti, it has been more than 8 months now. She was a part of their party in Jammu Kashmir and no women should go through this even if she runs as the CM”.
“I appeal to the government and ask them for equal rights, Kashmiris should not be dealt with injustice and harassment. They are all a part of India and should not be treated differently. No Muslim should be treated any differently from a Hindu. Communal differences should not be welcomed and the prisoners should be released”, he said in an interview with The Kashmiriyat.
