Ghulam Nabi Azad, the chairman of DPAP has stepped aside from the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat.
On Wednesday, party leadership informed The Kashmiriyat that Ghulam Nabi Azad has decided to not contest Anantnag-Rajouri seat.
“I thank my party leadership for nominating me as a candidate for the Anantnag-Rajouri seat. It is an honour for me that I have been given a chance to serve the people of Jammu Kashmir,” said Advocate Mohammed Saleem Parray.
Earlier, The Kashmiriyat had reported this development which took place after wide scale meetings in the Kashmir valley.
Sources said that several party leaders have threatened the leadership that they will quit the party, if Azad does not contest the Lok Sabha elections, a claim that the party denies.
