Gaza hospital attack: Israeli embassy attacked in Turkey, Jordan cancels Biden summit

Widespread protests have erupted throughout the Arab world following an airstrike on a Gaza hospital that claimed the lives of at least 700 Palestinians on Tuesday evening.

Demonstrators have forcefully entered the Israeli consulate in Jordan, while Western embassies have become targets of anger in Turkey, Tunisia, and Lebanon, accompanied by outbreaks of rioting in the West Bank.

In Iran, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the British and French embassies in the early hours of Wednesday, shouting “death to France and England.”

Some individuals even threw eggs at the walls of the French embassy complex.

In Istanbul, Turkish protesters hurled fireworks and incendiary objects at the Israeli embassy on Wednesday morning. There were protesters wearing masks, igniting explosives and setting Israeli and American flags on fire.

In some instances, barricades were torn down as protesters advanced towards lines of police officers.

Jordan snaps Biden visit

The visit of U.S. President Joe Biden to the Middle East faced turmoil as a Gaza hospital was struck, resulting in the death of hundreds of Palestinians on the same day Biden arrived in Tel Aviv.

In response to the strike, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas promptly canceled a scheduled meeting with Biden.

Furthermore, a summit designed to bring together Biden, Egyptian, and Palestinian leaders was also called off by Jordan’s King Abdullah.

Biden’s one-day trip, initially intended to include Tel Aviv and Jordan, will now be limited to Israel, according to the White House.

More than 700 people were killed after Israel bombed a hospital in Gaza.

Putin asks Biden to call for ceasefire

Meanwhile, Russia has issued a statement expressing hope that the United States President Joe Biden will call for a ceasefire during his visit to Israel.

Russia’s Ambassador to Washington said that the US State Department staff has warned not to call for de-escalation in Gaza.

“I follow the current news from the Middle East with horror and against this backdrop, I recall the catchphrase repeatedly voiced by Obama that, thanks to American policy, the world had become much safer. Well, now we all see by “how much,” Russia stated.
