On Thursday, as the news of two school teachers in Srinagar being shot dead came to the fore, a series of condemnations also emerged on the social networking site Twitter.
Joining the choir, the former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state and the PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, took to Twitter and said that the “government of India’s claims of building a Naya Kashmir” had turned it into “a hellhole.”
She said that she was disturbed to see the deteriorating situation in Kashmir, where “a minuscule minority is the latest target.”
She also added that the government of India’s interest was to “use Kashmir as a milch cow for its electoral interests.”
Reportedly, on Thursday morning, two teachers were shot dead inside Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Eidgah, Srinagar. While one of the deceased male teacher was a Kashmiri Pandit hailing from Jammu region, the other was a female Sikh teacher hailing from Allochibagh.
This was the latest in the series of civilian killings which have picked up pace in the valley. On Sunday evening, three civilians were shot dead within the time period of two hours in the valley.
