The Government of India has banned 16 Pakistani YouTube channels, including prominent news outlets such as Dawn News, Samaa TV, Ary News, and Geo News.
This action comes on the recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs in response to the dissemination of provocative and communally sensitive content.
The banned channels are accused of spreading false narratives and misinformation, particularly in the aftermath of worsening of relations between india and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
These channels have been accused of targeting India’s Army and security agencies with misleading reports, amplifying tensions in the region, as per the government.
Government sources have indicated that the ban is aimed at curbing the spread of anti-India propaganda and ensuring the safety and security of the country.
