Government teachers to face action if found using phones at Karnah schools

The Office of the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah has issued a stringent directive requiring all teaching faculty in the region’s educational institutions to switch off their mobile phones during working hours.

This policy applies to teachers in Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools, Middle Schools, and Primary Schools within the Karnah Sub-Division.

In a circular accessed by The Kashmiriyat, SDM Zaffar Ahmad Lone emphasized the need for teachers to focus on their duties, stating that “all the teaching faculty in aforementioned institutions shall keep their Mobile phones Switched off during working hours.”

The circular makes it clear that only Heads of Institutions (HOIs) are allowed to keep their phones switched on, and that too “to receive relevant communications whenever required.”

The directive further warns that “anyone found violating the instructions shall be taken into task under relevant laws.”

The Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Tangdar, along with Cluster Heads, has been instructed to ensure strict compliance with this new policy across all schools in the sub-division.

The circular has been distributed to key officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and Chief Education Officer of Kupwara, as well as the Principals and Headmasters of all educational institutions in Karnah, to ensure widespread awareness and adherence to the new regulations.
