Ground Report- Residents of Tral Area up in arms against PDD for Late delivery of Electricity Bills

The Power consumers in the upper reaches of Tral sub district in South Kashmir have strongly criticized the Power Development Department (PDD) for delivering their electricity bills at their residences  after the prompt due  payment date.

A large number of consumers From various villages of Tral  complained that the bills were delivered sometimes on the prompt payment date itself thus forcing them to rush to the billing centres to get the discount of late fee.

Locals of the various villages of Aripal Tesil while speaking to The Kashmiriyat alleged that all the bill distributors of Aripal Tehsil of Tral Sub-dustrict are in a habit of delivering electricity bills to the consumers just three or four days before due dates because all bill distributors are doing their part time business due to which common people suffer a lot.

One of the residents of Lone Mohalla , said residents of Dar Ganie Gund village , are among those who are receiving  their power bills after due date.

“Whole of the village received power bills of this month but no bill was delivered to our mohalla, we told the department about bill but they paid no attention, due to their negligence we people are suffering,” He added.

Many other residents said that some employees of PDD employees are taking some bribe from some people to lower their power bills.

Harmonder singh, JE PDD when contacted by The Kashmiriyat regarding this concern said, “Due to irregular power supply at billing centre the printing got delayed, So it may have hampered the delivery.”

I hope it will get well on time next month, he added

Replying to question about power fee discrimination he assured that he will look into the matter and will depute team to the spot to investigate the concern.
