Ground Report- Sopore Village without Electricty for Past 1 Month

The Residents of Naidkhai (Kanipora) area staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday morning against PDD over the non availability of power supply for last one month in the area.

A large number of people from Naidkhai (Kanipora) assembled near Power Receiving Station Naidkhai and staged a protest and blocked the Sopore -Sumbal road for four to five hours.

Pertinently, the protesters raised slogans against the PDD department due to their failure of providing power supply on time.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat a protester said, “our village is without electricity for last one month due to which villagers suffer during these harsh cold winter days.”

The employees of the department misbehaved with us when we visited their office and demanded installation of new transformer,he further added.

Meanwhile the official on being contacted by The Kashmiriyat said that the allegations are baseless, “the transformer of the area damaged was picked up for the repair by the PDD and  will be brought back soon for installation.”

After four hours the concern AEE. of PDD Mr. Qayoom reached to the spot and assured the protesters that they will solve the matter as soon as possible.
