Hafeezullah, who hailed from Akingam area of Achabal in South Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) District was shot dead by unknown gunmen outside his home on Tuesday morning.
He had spent more than 14 years in Jail since early 1980s for his association with the Freedom struggle in Jammu Kashmir and was currently associated with the Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Hafeezullah was recently released from Jail after he was arrested by police in November 2016 during a pro-freedom rally in Hakoora village, Hafeezullah was accused of being instrumental in organizing pro-freedom rallies and instigating violence in southern Kashmir.
He was booked in dozens of cases.
Hafeezullah is survived by four children, the eldest child is in 7th standard and youngest in nursery.
His brutal murder has evoked widespread condemnation and people from all sections of the society have expressed anger over the gruesome murder of Hafeezulah in broad day light.
