
Ismail Haniyeh, the prominent leader of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, has been killed in an attack in Tehran, Iran’s capital.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed early Wednesday morning that Haniyeh, along with one of his bodyguards, lost their lives when their residence was targeted.
The IRGC has announced that an investigation into the attack is underway, with details expected to be revealed later in the day.
Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s newly elected president, Masoud Pezeshkian.
His visit marked a significant moment in the ongoing relationship between Hamas and the Iranian government.
