Heavy Rainfall in Poonch, 1 Killed in a Landslide

Panic has gripped the people of Rajouri and Poonch after witnessing heavy rain fall from last night.

A 35 year old man was killed after a fresh landslide hit Kotli village of Manjkote in Rajouri district on Wednesday.

Officials told The Kashmiriyat that the killed person has  been Identified as Shokit, son of Mohammad Hussain of Kallar village of Mendhar, Poonch, “His body was retrieved from the debris site by locals of the area,” they said.

Many animals are also feared to have perished in an incident of cattle-shed collapse in Sangiote village near Balakote in Poonch district area. The rescue operation by locals was going on, creating panic among the masses especially in Saktoh & Dharhali  of District rajouri.

The fresh landslides triggered by the heavy rainfall also damaged number of roads and bridges partially in Rajouri and Poonch areas.
