High Court directs former JK Minister to evict government bungalow

The High Court of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh has dismissed the application filed by former Minister Choudary Lal Singh in which he had challenged his eviction from a ministerial bungalow.

Choudary Lal Singh had filed an application through his counsel asking the court put the eviction order on hold till the threat perception against him is being assessed.

The court not only dismissed the application but also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 upon the former minister Lal Singh.

“For what has been discussed here, it is evident that security assessment and entitlement to Government accommodation are two different

issues and cannot be intermingled to defeat the process of law. The present application filed by the applicant (Lal Singh) is nothing but an abuse of the process of law,” the Division Bench comprising Justice Rajesh Sekhri and Justice Tashi Rabstan observed.

The court directed the applicant to evict the ministerial bungalow by or before December 27.

The court as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust maintained that though the applicant has admitted that the writ petition filed by him against proceedings initiated against him under the Public Premises Act was dismissed as withdrawn by learned Single Bench of this Court, yet he has come up with the instant applicant with the sole intention to prolong his unauthorized occupation of the Government Bungalow, when the period of six weeks granted to him for vacation of the Bungalow would expire tomorrow on 27 December. This amounts of abuse of the process of law.  (KNT)
