
The Supreme Court heard the contempt plea for the non-constitution of Special Committee for reviewing the ongoing ban on 4G speed internet in Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday morning.
A bench led by Justice N V Ramana heard the petition, the affidavit read that — the Special Committee had a meeting and has come to the conclusion that the threat perception in Jammu Kashmir continues to be high.
Attorney General KK Venugopal said, “A carefully calibrated view was taken and on a trial basis, the committee has stated that High-speed internet could be restored in certain areas with strict monitoring. The area should have a low threshold of terrorist activities.”
Venugopal further said, “The Committee will overlook this restoration in certain areas of Jammu & Kashmir over a period of 7 days. This shall come into force after August 15, 2020”.
“The Internet restoration will be restored in certain areas for a trial basis for a period of two months,” Venugopal added.
