Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be on a three-day event-packed visit to Jammu Kashmir from April 6 to April 8.
During the three-day visit, Shah will meet BJP MLAs, chair security review meetings, oversee preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra in Jammu, and visit Srinagar, where he is likely to meet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Sources told news agency JKNS that Shah will arrive in Jammu on April 6 and hold a meeting with BJP MLAs and senior party leaders in the evening. Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh will also be present.
The meeting will focus on the performance of BJP MLAs in the ongoing budget session, which resumes on April 7 and concludes on April 9. Political developments in J&K will also be discussed, sources said.
The Home Minister will chair a high-level Unified Headquarters security review meeting, which will include J&K LG Manoj Sinha, top Army, paramilitary, intelligence, and civil administration officials. Sources said the meeting will assess infiltration attempts and terrorist movements in Jammu’s upper reaches, particularly in Kathua and Udhampur.
In Jammu, Shah will visit the International Border and meet families of police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty. His visit is being closely watched for any major announcements regarding J&K’s political and security landscape.
A separate meeting will focus on security and logistical arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from July 3 to August 9, sources said.
Shah is likely to travel to Srinagar on the afternoon of April 7, where he will virtually inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple developmental projects. However, the Srinagar visit remains uncertain, sources added.
Sources said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to join the inauguration events, adding that the CM is also likely to meet HM Shah. On April 8, Shah will fly back to New Delhi. (JKNS)
