
A young player, who played for the Jammu Kashmir Police hockey team, died on Tuesday during practice in Srinagar’s Rajbagh area.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that the players had reached the ground for practice when the team goalkeeper Rupinder Singh (24) complained of pain during the warm-up.
After that Rupinder fell on the ground and the fellow players immediately rushed him to the Police Hospital in Srinagar, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Rupinder’s father, a resident of Singhpora village in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, was also in the Jammu Kashmir Police, he died on-duty two years ago.
Rupinder was appointed as a follower under the SRO and used to play for the hockey team of the police and recently became a constable.
